The account is linked to a single login

The first reason why an added Instagram account still shows up after logging out is that you previously set it up with a single login to your main account. Thus, you can still switch from your main account to the added account on your device. 

Since 2020, Meta has integrated the single login feature to the Accounts Center, where users can manage logging and account settings across Facebook, Instagram, and Meta. To remove an added account completely from your phone, you may need to detach it from other accounts in the Meta Accounts Center.

You saved the account login info

Did you previously select to save the login info of your added account? Then, it will remain on the login screen on your phone. 

To take it off your device, you need to remove the account login information. 

How To Remove An Added Instagram Account In 2025 (iPhone & Android)

Now that you know why your added account is still showing on Instagram, let’s learn how to remove it properly with our step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: Go to Instagram

Everything takes place inside the app. So first switch to your Instagram account:

• Open the Instagram app from your phone.
• Switch to your added account.

Step 2: Navigate to the Accounts Center

If your added account is linked to an Accounts Center, read on. If you didn’t allow a single login for this added account, you can skip to step 4.

• Go to your profile page by hitting the profile picture icon in the bottom right.
• Tab the username in the top left of the screen.
• Hit <Go to Accounts Center>.

Step 3: Remove the added account from your Accounts Center

Now it’s time to unlink your Instagram accounts. Simply do as following:

• In the Meta Accounts Center, scroll to the end of the page.
• Hit Accounts.
• Hit the <Remove> button next to your added account.
• Select <Remove account>. 
• Hit Continue.
• Select <Yes, remove [username]> to confirm your decision.

After removing your added account from the Meta Accounts Center, you won’t be able to log in to this account from other Instagram, Facebook, or Meta accounts. You also cannot manage it in this Account Center.

If you haven’t crafted a separate password for this added account, you might be required to create one to continue. Follow the guidelines on-screen to finish the process. 

Step 4: Log out all Instagram accounts

Next, exit your added account on Instagram as well as other accounts to move to the login screen:

• Back to your profile page and navigate to Settings and Activity by tapping the triple-bar hamburger menu icon at the top right.

• Select Log out all accounts in the Login section.

• Go back to the Instagram app.
