Founded in 2021, Sankar Academy aims to educate marketers and content creators of all backgrounds about YouTube affiliate marketing, a popular type of MMO.

Sankar Academy provides an online mentorship program for affiliate marketing on YouTube. They commit to providing current and accurate information, practical content creation strategies, and essential resources and tools.

Challenges & Objectives

Before partnering with GDT Agency, Sankar Academy was facing a high TikTok ad cost per call (CPA) of around $500. Also, their video ads were flagged as inappropriate frequently. These issues made it impossible to scale profitably.

So, the client came to us for a solution to ad disapprovals and high CPAs of their TikTok campaigns.

Reasons & Solutions To Sankar Academy’s Issues

After taking on this project, we immediately carried out a compliance check and campaign analysis of their past efforts.

Reasons

We found several reasons for their pitfalls.

  • First of all, the client repurposed their YouTube videos instead of making new videos for TikTok. Thus, their video format and length didn’t fit TikTok perfectly.
  • Second, their content was not brief enough for a short-content platform like TikTok. It also didn’t align with TikTok’s user base and trend, making the hold rate low.
  • Thirdly, they accidentally made false claims in ads by claiming that the program could help the audience make a specific figure. Their TikTok ad account seemed to get shadowbanned, and their ads were embedded in the review process.

Solutions

Here is how we addressed these problems and streamlined their TikTok advertising.

  • We provided them with our agency’s TikTok ad accounts for rent. These accounts were whitelisted by the platform, so their new ads got approved immediately after submitting.
  • We told the client to avoid numerical or exaggerated claims on ads, and discussed the benefits of their program instead, so as not to violate TikTok’s policies.
  • We guided them to create new videos which were specifically tailored to TikTok. They must follow TikTok ad specs, including the aspect ratio, file format, and duration.
  • We recommended them to review their customer demographics. Then, they needed to create content that hit the pain points of their potential mentees and offered relevant solutions.
  • After testing different content types, we found that educational content worked perfectly for their campaigns and decided to focus on this strategy.

Results & Stats

After only 2 months of collaboration, Sankar Academy and GDT Agency successfully made significant improvements. 

Through content optimization and ad account switching, we accelerated the review process, minimized ad disapprovals, and cut down the CPA drastically while maintaining the same ad spend of ~$25,500.

  • Click-through rate (CTR) improved significantly by ~64.38%, from 0.73% to 1.2%.
  • Cost per lead (CPL) dropped by approximately 42.86%, from $28 to $16.
  • Cost per call (CPA) declined sharply by 65.2%, from $500 to $174.
  • The total number of booked calls soared from 51 to 146.
  • ROAS went from 2X to ~5.77X.
