Facebook Ads Manager Account Disabled: Best Guide To Fix

Why Is Your Facebook Ads Manager Account Disabled?

Multiple scenarios can lead to your Facebook Ads Manager account being disabled. From my experience, the reasons mainly lie in three factors: your advertisement, your landing page, and your ad account usage.

Let’s examine each factor in detail.

Ad creative and settings

It’s a must that your ad creatives and settings always follow Facebook advertising policies, terms of service, and other standards.

If there is any problem with your ad, not only will it be rejected or taken down from the platform, but your ad account can be in trouble.

Problems with ad creative and settings often involve:

  • Violating content: nudity, trigger keywords, discriminatory practices, hate speech; banned products/services; deceptive practices; intellectual property infringements; etc.
  • Low-quality content: grammar mistakes, click-bait, withholding information, exaggerated headlines, before/after images, and more.
  • Targeting settings: wrongfully targeting users under 18 for restricted goods and services such as alcohol, dating services, weight loss products, cosmetics, credit cards, insurance services, online gambling, etc; using targeting options to discriminate, harass, and disparage users.
  • Ad rejections: multiple ad rejections in an ad account history.
  • Lead ads: using lead ads to request sensitive information such as card numbers, criminal history, government IDs, financial, health, insurance, religion, sexual orientation, usernames and passwords, etc.
  • Negative feedback: excessive negative feedback from Facebook users, such as reporting or hiding ads, may increase the risk of a disabled ad account because it indicates poor targeting and irrelevant content.

These are just some common problems with Facebook ads that can make your Facebook Ads Manager account disabled. This list isn’t final. You can refer to my previous blog post on Facebook Ads Policy

Landing page

When Facebook reviews an ad, they will also scrutinize the associated website or landing page in terms of content, images, videos, etc.

So, if they detect problems on your landing page, they will ban your ad and disable your account for serious violations.

Problems relating to landing pages can be:

  • Non-functionality: being under construction, being a PDF or JPEG file, interfering with users’ ability to navigate away from the site, triggering an automatic download of a file, and more.
  • Product mismatch: discrepancy between the products or services promoted on the landing page must match those advertised in the ad content on Facebook.
  • Violating content: containing content that violates Facebook ads policies, using triggering keywords, and sensationalized headlines.
  • Disruptive experience: providing disruptive or unexpected experiences for audiences, with minimal original content and abundant irrelevant ad content.
  • Flagged domain: if the landing page’s domain was flagged on Facebook for previous violations and you direct ads to this domain, your ad and ad account may also face bans.
  • Unclear intentions: unclear offerings, lack of business information such as brand name, logo, contact details, etc.

Account usage

How you use your ad account can impact its health. Some common problems are:

  • Payment issues: Late payments, exceeding card limits, incorrect card numbers, expired cards, cards previously used on violated accounts, using the same cards on different accounts, etc.
  • Unusual activities: inconsistent logins (regarding IP, device, time, etc), a surge in ad spending, large ad spending with a fresh account without warming up, etc.

  • Connecting with shady accounts: having a connection with violating or suspicious accounts or networks, for example, a team member who has access to your account violated ad policies.

If you find your ad account disabled in Facebook Ads Manager, the first step is to identify the reason. Then, assess your campaigns, landing pages, and team members to discover the cause. Carefully review Facebook’s advertising policies and prepare all necessary information to submit a successful Facebook ad account disabled appeal.

Identify the reason

When your ad account is disabled and you log into Facebook Ads Manager, you will see a notification similar to the screenshots below. Click See Details to get more insight into the reason why Facebook disabled your ad account.

You may also receive a notification email from Facebook with more details about their decision. Generally, you will be notified with a reason like:

  • Unable to place a temporary hold on your card: If your ad account is disabled because of failed payment issues like this, promptly check your balance and pay the due amount. You may unban your account and resume your ads after the balance is paid.
  • We noticed some unusual activity: Facebook may also remind you to verify your account along with this notification.
  • It didn’t comply with our policy: Sometimes, Facebook may also state a certain term such as unacceptable business practices/low quality or disruptive content/ circumventing systems.

Although you cannot find the exact violation or unusual activity with these notifications, this step can provide directions on how to recover your disabled ad account.

Review Facebook’s advertising policies

If your ad account is disabled due to a policy violation, review the rule that Facebook has stated in the notification to understand where you went wrong and make some assumptions about the exact reason.

Citing the relevant rule in your appeal can increase its persuasiveness. Also, this step will help you avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Prepare necessary information

Before submitting an appeal to Facebook. You should prepare all necessary information and documents, such as government IDs, explanations for your unusual activities, screenshots of the ad creative/landing page, etc.

If Facebook rejects your appeal, you can request a review around 2 more times. You may still be rejected again or even receive no response from Meta.

In these situations, be prepared to start from scratch by creating a new ad account in a new Business Manager (BM, also called a business portfolio) and transferring all pages to the new BM account. Also, don’t use the same card or payment method associated with your disabled ad account.

In case your personal Facebook ad account is disabled, you won’t be able to create a new BM. What you can do is ask a friend, colleague, or agency to help you create and manage ads on Facebook.

To secure your access to advertising on Facebook, it’s better to prevent the bans from happening.
